WORKSHOP ON MANAGEMENT OF SAHIWAL COWS ORGANISED

One-day workshop on Recent Advances in production and health management of Sahiwal cows was organised by Sriganganagar Veterinary College and Association of Animal Scientists under the aegis of Tantia University.

The chief guest, Padmashree Himmat Ram Bhambhu, a wildlife conservationist and environmental activist, said that the Sahiwal cow is of a very good breed. We must take milk, curd, ghee, buttermilk from indigenous cows. Butter prepared using Sahiwal cows’ milk has less cholesterol.

President of the University, Prof. (Dr.) MM Saxena. Indian Veterinary Council member Dr. Amit Nain, Managing Director of Gangmool Dairy Ugrasen Saharan, SGPC executive member Surjit Singh Kang and progressive animal husbandry expert Surendra Pal Singh were present as special guests.

Dr. RPS Baghel, Dean of Veterinary College, coordinator of the workshop, highlighted the significance of the subject and explained how it is very important to incorporate advanced technology in the management of Sahiwal cows. This will give better results in breed improvement, he added. Dr. Mahendra Milind expressed gratitude to all. Suresh Budania, Dr. Gagan Chowdhary, Dr. Bhupendra Kaswan, Dr. Sita Ram Assistant Director (Veterinary) of the University were present. The guests were honored on the occasion.
