TWO HELD FOR ILLEGAL MINING IN FEROZEPORE

The police have arrested two persons in an illegal mining case at Mallanwala police station and have recovered one JCB machine and a tipper. While divulging details, ASI Gurdev Singh Investigation Officer said that following the inputs, the police had conducted a raid near Village Hamad Wala in Mallanwala block.

“When the police party conducted the raid, the accused identified as Karamjit Singh alias Kamma resident of Village Kachar Bhann in Zira and Lakhpreet Singh alias Labhi, resident of Village Bhadana in Mallanwala block along with one unidentified person, were doing illegal mining in the fields with the help of a JCB machine. The police party also recovered one tipper from the fields which was also impounded by the police”, said IO.

The accused had been booked under Mining and Mineral Act at Mallanwala police station (FIR No. 37 Dated 18.04.2023). Earlier on March 16, the police had booked few unidentified persons following the recovery of two tippers laden with illegal sand.

It is pertinent to mention here that this year, 34 FIRs have been registered in connection with illegal mining while 17 arrests have been made. Besides, 28 tractor-trolleys, 10 tippers, 5 JCPs and 1 pokelane machine have been recovered.
