VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS ASI FOR TAKING BRIBE RS 10,000

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday nabbed an incharge of police post, Ramnagar, Police Station, Patiala, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Palwinder Singh and Punjab Home Guard volunteer Satyabhan for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said police officials have been arrested on the complainant of Randhir Singh, resident of Cheeka, Hayana.

(SUBHEAD)Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said police officials have demanded Rs 30,000 as a monthly bribe to allow his three trucks to enter in Punjab without any hindrance.

The spokesperson informed that after preliminary investigation of this complaint a VB team from Patiala range has laid a trap and the accused both the police officials have been arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 as a bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Patiala range. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he added.
