The 30thWorld Press Freedom Day was celebrated by the Journalists Association in collaboration with the Career Guidance Cell of Government Girls Senior Secondary School. Rakesh Sehgal was the keynote speaker, while senior journalists Raj Sadosh, Praveen Kathuria, Dr. Sahil Mittal, Davinder Pal, Sunil Bhardwaj and others shared the dais. Students and staff participated enthusiastically in the program held under the chairmanship of Principal Sunita Bulandi.
Dr. Sehgal said that the condition of journalism in the present time is a matter of contemplation. The problem is that journalists are not able to keep their point openly. If they keep the matter openly, then trouble arises for them. “Never get weak in today's life and never let yourself break down. If broken, join again and move on. Raj Sadosh said that the coming time can be even more difficult for journalism, because the way digital media and cyber world are developing, the challenges for journalism are increasing. Politicians are free to speak anyway, even if they take a dig at someone's personal life or make a hate speech, they are capable of stalling the action but if the writing of a journalist stings them, then the latter have to bear the consequences.
On the occasion Avtar Gill, Dharminder Kumar, Ramesh Kathuria, teacher Anamika Bansal presented their views regarding freedom of the Press. Association president Tejinder Singh Khalsa expressed gratitude to the participants. Jatin Dhawan was the project chairman.
Among the participants were Sameer Sachdeva, Gaurav Nagpal, Navneet Garg, Deepak Mehta, Raghav Nagpal, Pravin Juneja, Sandeep Sokhal, Raj Narula, Sonu Bulandi, Satya Narayan Sharma, Dharam Vir Sharma, Vicky Hoodia, Atul Ahuja, Raj Goyal and Jasmail Singh. The stage was conducted jointly by Rajinder Soni and Amit Batra.
