DUJ CONDEMNS ARREST OF TIMES NOW REPORTER

Read in:English

Face2News/New Delhi

The Delhi Union of Journalists condemns the arbitrary arrest of Times Now reporter Bhawna Kishore. She was arrested last night in Ludhiana on way to an assignment because the Times Now car had an accident and two women suffered minor injuries.

Strangely enough, Bhavana was not driving the vehicle.

She has been charged under the SC/ST Act for allegedly abusing the two women. The circumstances of the arrest seem strange. Why was the woman reporter detained and kept overnight in a police station when keeping women in detention overnight is against the law? The Punjab Police has to answer some questions here.

We demand immediate release of the reporter and the withdrawal of all charges against her, the driver and crew, said S.K.Pande, Sujata Madhok ,iJigeesh. A.M, President , General Secretary, Secretary of the Union.
