UNDER OPERATION “VIRAM” PROACTIVE CHECKINGS WAS DONE AGAINST BARS IN THE AREA OF PS PAHARGANJ & PS NABI KARIM, JOINT TEAM OF SPECIAL WING AND PS PAHARGANJ VISITED SEVERAL BARS POSING THEMSELVES AS CUSTOMER DURING CHECKING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES WERE NOTICED AT “GEMS BAR”, MAIN MARKET, PAHARGANJ , FOR RUNNING ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES OWNER OF THE BAR WAS BOOKED UNDER APPROPRIATE SECTIONS OF LAW

On 05-05-23 a special drive under Operation “VIRAM” was conducted by Joint Team of PS Paharganj and Operation Wing for surprise checking of Bars operating in the area of PS Paharganj and PS Nabi Karim to take action against the bars engaged in illegal activities.
For the purpose, police personnel were sent as decoy customers in several bars. After visiting few bars, police personnel posing themselves as decoy customers informed the other team members who were waiting at a safe distance that Bar Girl Dance was being organized in “GEMS BAR”, Main Bazar Paharganj. Accordingly, the team conducted raid at “GEMS BAR” where 7 girls were found performing dance. There were 5 customers who were enjoying the dance and throwing currency notes on the girls.
The team immediately took charge of the area and apprehended the girls, customers and owner of the bar Mr Akhilesh Pathak.(SUBHEAD)
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sain, IPS, DCP, Central Distt., said, the girls engaged in dance were all major and working on daily wages. They were from different states Sikkim, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana. Customers were also from different states and they were in Delhi for business purpose etc.
Accordingly legal action was initiated vide FIR No 311/23 u/s 294/34 IPC PS Paharganj and investigation taken up. And, The Bar Owner, Customers and the girls engaged in dancing activities were apprehended.
The interrogation revealed that the dance was being performed regularly for a small duration and the timings varies every day. Private bouncers were also hired to keep vigil on police personnel. An escape route to roof was also there to slip away in case of police raid. But as the police personnel were already inside the base posing customers their idea could not succeed.
The Bar owner Akhilesh Pathak R/o Tilak Nagar Delhi is into this business since long time. He owns few other bars in Delhi. He told that like other bar owners, he suffered huge financial loss due to Covid pandemic. To overcome, the financial loss, he suffered, he wanted more footfall/ customers in the bar for which he used the idea of organizing bar dance in his bar.
Further investigation is underway.
