JALANDHAR LOK SABHA BY-POLL: PUNJAB GOVERNMENT DECLARES LOCAL HOLIDAY ON MAY 10

A local holiday has been declared by the Punjab Government on May 10 for Government Offices, Boards/Corporations and Government Educational Institutions situated in 04 Jalandhar (SC) Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency on account of the by-election for the seat on this date. The Punjab government has also declared this holiday under the Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.

(SUBHEAD)The Punjab Government has issued a notification which directs that any employee, who is a voter of Jalandhar Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency and works in the Punjab Government Offices, Boards or Corporations and government educational institutions, can apply for a special leave to vote on May 10, 2023 (Wednesday) by presenting his voter card to the concerned authority. This leave will not be deducted from the leave account of the officer/employee.

On May 10, 2023, paid leave will also be granted in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency, as stipulated in the provision of sub-section 1 of section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (in respect of all persons employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment).
