On the directives of Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has suspended Gurwinder Singh Junior Engineer of sub division Goniana, deputed under distribution division of Bathinda on the allegations of irregularities & negligence while discharging official duty.
Power Minister said that this step has been taken on the basis of a complaint received to PSPCL through Whatsap. It is worth mention here that this Junior Engineer is allegedly demanding bribe to install a domestic power connection for tubewell room of from the 24 hours supply line of 11kv feeder. During the preliminary inquiry technical audit wing of PSPCL found that JE Gurwinder Singh has cleared the file and arranged three poles by violating the rules.
During investigation and site visit, JE Gurwinder Singh admitted that concerned site does not fulfill the criteria for domestic connection as per PSPCL norms. It is informed that further detailed investigation in the matter is underway.
Power Minister also said that he will not tolerate any laxity and corrupt practice while discharging duty. He said that strict action would be taken against the erring officers & officials.
Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO also urged the people to cooperate the state government to uproot this menace of bribery from the state and if any officer or official of power department asks for a bribe, it should be reported immediately to his office.
