A complaint was received on 09.05.2023,from office bearer of BJP Headquarters that some people are impersonating themselves as BJP officials and attempting to cheat & deceive party leaders, workers, Government officials etc. in different states and such people are claiming themselves to be associated with the Central Office. It was also alleged that such alleged persons have been successful in some of their attempts. Few details of such persons were also shared with the complaint.
After preliminary enquiry into the complaint a case vide FIR No. 25/23 dated 09.05.2023 u/s 419/420/468/471/120B IPC was registered at Cyber Police Station Central district and the investigation taken up.
Keeping in view the sensitivity and seriousness of offence, a dedicated joint team of Cyber PS and AATS/CD comprising SI Dhirender Kanwar, SI Akhil Chaudhary, SI Ali Akram, ASI Praveen, HC Jai Kishan, W/HC Meenaxi and other staff headed by Inspr. Khemendra Pal Singh SHO/Cyber Police Station was constituted to nab the alleged persons under the guidance of Sh. Ajay Kumar Singh, ACP/ Operation Central District & Shri Hukma Ram Addl. DCP-I and under the overall supervision of the undersigned.
During the investigation Consumer Application Form (CAFs) and CDRs of the available mobile numbers were procured through mobile service providers. CAF of one of the suspect numbers was found in the name of One Praveen Kumar resident of Gharoli but no specific address was found.
It was a difficult task for the team to apprehend the alleged persons with mobile, as the mobile was only evidence in the case. The team called the alleged number posing as contractor seeking help in getting contract and he agreed to meet at Mayur Vihar. Police personnel were deployed around meeting place in plain clothes and they apprehended the alleged person as soon as he arrived. His identity was revealed as Praveen Kumar resident of Gharoli, Mayur Vihar, Delhi.
Mr. Sanjay Kumari Sain, IPS, DCP, Central Distt, said, during interrogation, he confessed for his crime and disclosed that he used to search the details of politicians and office bearers of the party through internet. He came in contact with various politicians of North Eastern States. He developed intimacy with them by impersonating as office bearer in Central office. He used to cheat them in the name of party funds and in lieu of recommending them for some important responsibilities. And in lieu of that he used to get benefits from them in the name of hotel bookings, tickets for air travels and money for other expenses. To impress the leaders, he was using his photos with some known leaders of North Eastern States. This way, he extracted money in lakhs from many leaders, Govt. officials, contractor etc. He used to spend money in betting and in lavish life style.(SUBHEAD)
Another Mobile number was found in the name of one Piyush Kumar Srivastava resident of Lucknow. Team went to Lucknow, made local enquiries and collected details about alleged Piyush. Then team contacted him posing themselves as businessman seeking some favour and when he came to meet, he was apprehended with his mobile phone which he was using to deceive the people by impersonating himself as OSD to National President. He was using visiting cards in the name of OSD to National President. He has registered an NGO in the name of “Bhartiya Inclusive development foundation”. He used to send the copy of fake visiting cards through WhatsApp to various higher officials of Govt companies such as GAIL, SAIL, ONGC, BHEL, IRCTC to get the benefit of CSR. He managed to take Rs. 45.00 lacs from GAIL under CSR. Accused was desperate to earn more money by using same modus operandi.
The accused identified as Praveen Kumar (19 years) S/o Bahadur Singh Nath R/o Village Gharoli, Mayur Vihar III, Delhi. He is educated up to 12th standard and Piyush Kumar Srivastava (34 years) S/0 Dr. Gurusharan R/o Gomati Nagar, Lucknow, UP (2nd address Mau (UP). He had done MBA. He has registered a NGO and to get funds in his NGO posing himself as OSD to National President using fake visiting cards.
RECOVERY: 03 MOBILE PHON, and 4 Sims used in commission of crime., 4
accounts used for cheated money. 55 fake Visiting Cards in the name of OSD to National President. One laptop used in commission of crime.
