CBI ARRESTS AN ADDITIONAL LEGAL ADVISOR AND AN ADVOCATE IN BRIBERY CASE

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reported to have  arrested an Additional Legal Advisor(ALA) & Incharge, Branch Secretariat(Govt. of India), Bangalore and an Advocate in a bribery case.

A case was registered against Additional Legal Advisor & In-charge, Branch Secretariat, Bangalore(Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Govt. of India); an Advocate based at Bangalore and Unknown Public Servants & Private Persons on the allegations that an Additional Legal Advisor & In-charge, Branch Secretariat, Bangalore was indulging in illegal practices of obtaining bribe from advocates for facilitating their appointment/registration as Notary for different States including Karnataka.

It was further alleged that the said accused was in contact with other accused (an Advocate) in the matter of appointment of advocates as Notary and demanded bribe of Rs.50,000/- per advocate & asked her to deliver part of the bribe amount.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused (ALA) with bribe money of Rs.25,000/- In addition to the bribe money, a cash of Rs.4,32,800/-(Approx) was also recovered from personal possession of the said accused. Searches were conducted at Bangalore & Ghaziabad which led to recovery of Rs.34 Lakh from the premises of said accused along with several incriminating documents & digital devices.

Both the arrested accused were produced in the Competent Court and were remanded to Judicial Custody.
