Face2News/Abohar.

The construction work of Thapar Model WSP (Waste Stabilisation Pond) at Panjkosi village has resumedafter a year.

The treatment plant as per the Thapar Model will consist of screening chamber, digestion well, skimming tank, stabilization tank, oxidation pond and storage or maturation pond. The renovation of the pond will beautify the village, make it free from foul smell and contribute to improvement of health, experts claimed.

(MOREPIC1)  MLA Sandeep Jakhar said that through former MP Sunil Jakhar, he had got the WSP, costing about Rs 40 lakhs approved by the previous government. After the change of guards, most of the projects were affected adversely. As a result of continuous talks with the concerned officials, the work for the project has now restarted. He had last month requested CM Bhagwant Singh Mann to concentrate on completing the pending projects on priority instead of creating obstacles.

Panjkosi village has been leading in terms of development for the last few decades. After Bal Ram Jakhar decided to quit as sarpanch and contested Vidhan Sabha poll in 1972, his eldest son Sajjan Kumar Jakhar was then elected sarpanch.(SUBHEAD)

The state government had awarded the first prize of Rs one lakh to the panchayat that was judged best in the state. As Sajjan Kumar Jakhar resigned as sarpanch to contest Vidhan Sabha election in 1980, his younger brother Surinder Kumar Jakhar was elected as sarpanch in the village. The first RO (Reverse osmosis) plant in the sub division was installed by the village panchayat about 14 years back.
