The team of Special Staff/South District has busted a high profile IPL gambling racket and arrested 02 bookies namely Amit Choudhary and Sunil in case FIR No. 192/23, dated- 21.05.2023, U/s 3/4 Delhi Public Gambling Act PS Hauz Khas, New Delhi. Upon their instance, 02 Laptops having betting assistance software, 15 Mobile Phones having call recordings of punters, 01 LED TV, 01 Internet router, 01 Set top box, 01 Calculator, laptop chargers etc were recovered from the spot.
To deter gambling/snatching/robbery in the area of South District, traps were mounted at the vulnerable areas and the modus operandi used by the gamblers, snatchers, robbers & auto lifters was briefed to the staff for prevention and detection in the area. Accordingly, the team Special Staff, SD initiated sincere efforts by sensitizing local informers and collecting human intelligence. Further, several teams for conducting patrolling in the area were formed and directed to intensify the patrolling. (SUBHEAD)
In this sequence, an information was received that a high profile IPL satta racket was being operated in PS Hauz Khas area. Hence, a team consisting of SI Jay Kishan, SI Dayanand, ASI Ashok, ASI Joginder, ASI Ashok Kumar, HC Pushpender, HC Jugal Bhati, HC Krishan, Ct Sandeep Poonia, Ct Ashok, & Ct Yoginder led by Inspr. Dheeraj, I/C Special Staff/SD under supervision of ACP/Ops/South Distt. was formed to develop important clues about the IPL satta racket being operated from the area of South District.
Accordingly, the team worked relentlessly and collected some vital and key inputs through manual sources and purified the key inputs and dug out of board some more important inputs through manual as well as technical surveillance.
The perseverance and efforts of the team bore fruits when in the afternoon of 20/05/2023, Ct Sandeep Poonia got a specific tip that an IPL Satta Racket was being organized from Gulmohar Park, Hauz khas area. After getting such an important key input the team swung into action and conducted a raid at Roof Top and 02 persons were nabbed from there while indulged in gambling.
Later on, they were identified as Amit Choudhary and Sunil. Upon their instance, huge stuff of betting equipment containing 02 Laptops having betting assistance software, 15 Mobile Phones having call recordings of punters, 01 LED TV, 01 Internet router, 01 Set top box, 01 Calculator, laptop chargers etc were recovered from the spot. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 192/23, dated- 21.05.2023, U/s 3/4, Delhi Public Gambling Act was registered at PS Hauz Khas and investigation was taken up.
INTERROGATION:– Mr. Chandan Choudhary, IPS, DCP, South Distt., said, during the course of interrogation, both the accused persons disclosed that they used Betting Assistant Software to maintain book and accounts of punters (gamblers). One person remained present at Stadium (where match is being played) with one phone or some electronic device (which is called line) to provide actual score which is 01 or 02 ball faster than the live match being shown on TV channels.
They used this line for betting (bhaav) and pass the same to their punters. They purchased the said software from Nehru Place and line (bhaav) from their known to. Per match 3 to 5 lacs were on stake by them and around 2 to 3 crore rupees were stake in IPL (67 matches played till now). They are betting since the beginning of this IPL season.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Amit Choudhary R/o Khairpur Kotla, Delhi, age 45 AND Sunil R/o Khairpur Kotla, age 35 years.
