VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTS BLOCK FOREST OFFICER, DAROGA FOR ACCEPTING RS 70K BRIBE

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign, has arrested Block Forest Officer, Ramandeep Singh, and Munish Kumar, a Daroga, posted in Malerkotla forest range, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said this case has been registered against the above said employees on an online complaint lodged by Gurjeet Singh of village Katron, Sangrur district on the 'CM Anti-Corruption Action Line'.

Giving details he added that the complainant in his online complaint has alleged that the above said Forest officials had taken Rs 70,000 as a bribe for not to impose heavy fines in lieu of cutting of trees related to Forest Department.(SUBHEAD)

The spokesperson further added that the VB unit of Patiala range has investigated the allegations levelled in the online complaint and both the accused have been arrested after finding them guilty for taking a bribe of Rs 70,000 from the complainant.

In this regard a corruption case at VB police station Patiala against the above mentioned employees has been registered and both have been arrested. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he informed.
