Fae2News/Chandigarh

A Special All-India Drive has been launched by Central and State GST Departments across the country starting from 16th of May, 2023 up to 15th of July, 2023 to detect suspicious and fake GST registrations and to conduct requisite verification and further remedial action to weed out the fake billers from the GST eco-system and to safeguard Government revenue.

The Excise & Taxation Department of Chandigarh Administration is also conducting the above-mentioned drive to identify the fraudulent taxpayers who are engaged in passing of fake Input Tax Credit (ITC). Physical verification of business premises of the taxpayers to verify the genuineness of the registrations as per data received from GST Network is being done. Excise & Taxation Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh assured that the said process will be confined to physical verification only and not in any way be an Inspection of the business premises of the taxpayers. Action will only be initiated against non- functional and bogus taxpayers who are not found at their principal place of business and indulging in fake transactions. Action will be taken as per the provisions of GST law against such bogus/fake taxpayers.

Genuine Taxpayers need not panic from this Special All-India Drive and should only ensure that all GST compliances are being followed by them. All the taxpayers are therefore requested to extend their co-operation in weeding out the bogus/fake taxpayers.
