CABINET SUB-COMMITTEE HOLDS MEETING WITH TEACHERS’ ORGANIZATIONS

ASKS SCHOOL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO SEEK OPINION FROM AG OFFICE ON UNIONS ISSUES RELATED TO LEGAL IMPEDIMENTS,  CHEEMA ASSURES OF SPEEDY RESOLUTION OF UNIONS’ ISSUES RELATED TO FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Cabinet Sub-Committee comprising Cabinet Ministers Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, Mr. Aman Arora and Mr. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Wednesday held meetings with various teachers' organizations related to the school education department and discussed their issues in detail for their early resolution.

During these meetings held in a pleasant atmosphere at Punjab Bhavan here, Meritorious Teachers Union, Computer Teachers Union, PSTET Union, EGS/AIE/STR Teachers Kache Adhiypak Union, Kache Adhiyapal Union, ETT TET Pass Beruzgar Adhiyapak Union, 4161 Beruzgar Adhiyapak Union, and EGS/AIE/STR Pre Primary Kache Adhiyapak Union discussed their in detail with the sub-committee. Most of these issues were related to the Regularization of services and increase in the salary.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Unions’ some demands relating to the regularisation of services observed that legal opinion is required to resolve these cases. The Cabinet Sub-Committee directed the officials of School Education department to hold special meetings with these unions and seek legal advice from the office of the Advocate General for legally suitable resolution of their issues. Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, Chairman of the cabinet Sub-Committee, asked the officials of the School Education Department to ensure that demand regarding regularization of service to be resolved in such a way that it does not face any legal hurdle. He said that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government’s only intention is to regularise the services of maximum number of employees.

On salary and other issues related to the Finance Department, the Finance Minister assured the teachers' unions that implementation of most of the demands raised by them are under process and they will soon get good news in this regard. He directed the officials of the finance department to hold meetings with the school education department and prepare proposals regarding other financial matters in this regard as soon as possible.

Prominent amongst others, Additional Chief Secretary School Education Ms. Seema Jain, Finance Secretary Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, Special Secretary School Education Ms. Gauri Parashar Joshi and Director General School Education Ms. Deepti Uppal were also present during these meetings.
