AAP FAILED TO DELIVER WHAT ITS LEADERS HAD PROMISED: JAKHAR

Face2News/Abohar.

The AAP govt failed to deliver what its leaders had promised to Punjab, says Abohar  MLA Sandeep Jakhar.

(MOREPIC1) Speaking to the media at his residence in the presence of MC Mayor Vimal Thatai, the MLA Said that the construction of a new bus stand in place of Nehru Stadium has been left in lurch as payments were delayed to the contractor timely and he left the task due to cost of increasing material.

(SUBHEAD)Neglect towards urban development can be gauged from the fact that despite the Chief Minister's attention being drawn in the month of March, no IAS officer has so far been appointed on regular terms as Commissioner for the Municipal Corporation that has a budget of more than Rs 100 crore.

He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had during the Vidhan Sabha session in June 2022 assured to release Rs 3 crore for the construction of the bus stand adding further that the work will be completed in 3-4 months. After that, the Transport and Local Government Minister also reiterated this promise during his visit to Abohar, but due to the delay in providing the funds, the construction cost increased a lot. The gravel sand price escalated manyfold. The result was that the contractor left the work midway, apprehending a huge loss.

Jakhar said that the state govtnot only ignored Abohar in urban development but also adopted a lackluster view in completing the fishery center work in Killianwali village even after the visit of the minister of the department. Due to non-commencement of major works under MGNREGA, the laborers are not earning wages. Corruption is visible at the grassroots level. The district police did make recoveriesof narcotics, but the common man suffers from the increase in incidents of snatching, theft and assault. Police must ensure an environment free of fear.
