Members belonging to various “dalit” organizations on Monday held a protest demanding action against those who fraudulently got Scheduled Caste certificates made to secure government jobs.
The dalit organizations in this border district including Ambedkar Adhikar Sangharsh Committee (Punjab), Rawan Saina Mission, Dalit Majdoor Welfare Society besides other “dalit” organizations, assembled near Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk in the city area and later went on from one area to another in form of a mob.
Though, most of the commercial establishments were already closed, those which were opened including few banks, were shut down by the protesters.
Deep Dashanand, Dalit Samaj leader said that the “bandh” call belongs to the entire “Dalit” community and not to any specific person. “We have decided to continue with “bandh”, obeying the instructions of Bhagwan Valmiki Guru Gian Nath Ashram Amritsar. We will all fight for our rights till our last breath”, said Deep Dashanand.
“We demand that all the SC caste certificates which have been wrongly issued should be cancelled and further be made again after proper scanning and verification of the antecedents”, said Dashanand.
On this occasion, Judge Sahota, Pippal Sahota, Vijay Atwal, Mulkh Raj and other Dalit leaders were present. Meanwhile Vigilance probe begins.
