TEN YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO AN ACCUSED IN A CBI CASE

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ahmedabad has sentenced Akhtar Hussain Basir Ahmed (Private Person) to undergo ten years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 5000/- in a case related to conspiracy regarding recovery of weapons & explosives.

CBI had registered a case on 29.10.2001 on the basis of recovery of huge cache of weapons & explosives from a truck in the intervening night of 26/27.10.2001 from Santhalpur, Patan (Gujarat). During investigation, 04 persons were arrested. They were earlier charge-sheeted and also convicted. The investigation also revealed the role of Sh. Aftab Ansari in the smuggling of these arms & ammunitions. He was also earlier convicted during July 2018.

Shri Akhtar Hussain Basir Ahmed was absconding during investigation. He surrendered before the Court on 30.05.2012 and was sent to Judicial Custody. The said accused was not released on bail.

After investigation, supplementary charge sheet was filed on 08.11.2012 against Shri Akhtar Hussain Basir Ahmed. The Trial Court found the said accused guilty and convicted him.
