VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS ASI WHILE TAKING BRIBE OF RS 5000

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI/LR) Makhan Shah posted at Police Post Handiaya in Barnala district for accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.

An official spokesperson of the VB said that the accused police official has been arrested on the complaint of Satgur Singh, a resident of Khudi Kalan in Barnala district.

He further informed that the complainant lodged a complaint at Police Station VB, Patiala Range that the accused ASI had demanded Rs 5000 as bribe to get the court order implemented regarding common agriculture tubewell for equal distribution of water for irrigation.(SUBHEAD)

After preliminary investigation in the complaint, the spokesperson said that a VB team laid a trap and arrested the accused ASI while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant in the presence of official witness.

In this regard, a case has been registered under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act against the ASI at Police Station VB, Patiala Range. Further investigation is under progress in the case.
