ADVANCE ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETED TO DEAL WITH FLOOD SITUATION IN FAZILKA

Fazilka/Abohar: Fazilka district administration today claimed to have made all required advance arrangements to control the flood and to minimize the loss to human life or property.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal said that 187182 cusecs of water were being released from Hussainiwala today afternoon. At Kawan Wala bridge near Indo Pak border water level is 2.6 feet below the lower side of the bridge and the water is within the banks of the river near this bridge.

(SUBHEAD)(MOREPIC1)The district administration is also maintaining constant coordination with the BSF so that the water is continuously being drained towards the Pakistan side beyond the Zero line from the Pattan post.

The drainage and rural development departments are carrying out a series of efforts to protect the eastern embankment of the creek by filling the weak places with soil bags. JCB is available at the bridge to clear any obstacle in flow of water below the bridge. The Food Supply department is preparing ration packets for the people to be evacuated in case of flooding in the villages. While 17 places in the district are marked for establishing relief camps.

The Revenue department and the police officials are continuously visiting the villages in the border belt and informing people about the actual water situation so that they can be evacuated safely with mutual cooperation if water level increases further. Tehsildar Sukhdev Singh visited Mahatam Nagar, Muhar Jamsher, Dhani Sadda Singh.
