1,99,872 cusecs of water were released from Hussainiwala headworks at 7 pm on Wednesday. In the evening today, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal raised the spirits of the people by going to the further checkpoints along the international border.

She said that currently the situation in Fazilka district is completely under control, but Thursday may be more worrying. She also talked to the teams making advance arrangements for relief work at different places and reviewed the situation.

While the managing departments appeared alert and prompt, the spirits of the border people also appeared high and they expressed solidarity with the administration.(SUBHEAD)

Narinder Pal Singh Sawna MLA and the DC visited the Kawanwali bridge and appealed to the people to come to safe places immediately on receiving the message of danger from the administration and not to go for farming across the wire for a day or two.

Meanwhile, some women engaged in agricultural work along the zero-line wanted to talk to the DC, so Dr. Senu Duggal sat on the roadside and listened to them and after hearing their problems, instructed the officials to solve the same.
