NINE SCHOOLS IN BORDER VILLAGES IN FAZILKA TO REMAIN CLOSED TILL WEDNESDAY

Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal today said that 9 government schools in flood-affected areas will remain closed till Wednesday. These include Government Senior Secondary School Jhangar Bhaini, Government Primary School Gulaba Bhaini, Government Primary School Dhani Sadda Singh, Government Primary School Dona Nanka, Government Primary School Teja Ruhela, Govt Primary School Gatti No 1, Govt Primary School Muhar Jamsher, Govt Primary School Dhani Natha Singh and Govt Primary School Attu Wala.

The DC visited the flood-affected villages on Sunday evening and reviewed the relief work. She said that a total of 2970 tarpaulins have been distributed to the needy people in 9 affected villages till today evening.

(SUBHEAD)Out of these 500 tarpaulins have been distributed by BKU Khosa while 2470 tarpaulins by the administration. Three more trolleys of tarpaulins have reached the control room, which will be distributed tomorrow. Committees have been formed for smooth and transparent distribution of relief materials and the officials themselves are monitoring the operations. Also, 34 trolleys of green fodder were distributed on Sunday for the animals.

Water level is decreasing rapidly and water from the fields is going back into the river. The fields adjacent to Mahatam Nagar village were completely submerged yesterday, today the paddy has completely come out of the water giving relief to the farmers.
