20 BABIES BORN IN SUTLEJ WATER AFFECTED VILLAGES

In the border villages of Fazilka district, affected by Sutlej water in the last few days, 20 babies have been born. The health department has already identified 42 more pregnant women who are due to give birth in the coming days.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal said that the health department had already prepared the list of pregnant women expecting babies soon. Advance preparation of the department is the result of safe delivery of 20 pregnant women in these areas and care and treatment was going on accordingly.

(SUBHEAD)Civil surgeon Dr. Satish Goyal said that post-natal check-up of women is also being done by going to their homes. An ambulance is stationed 24 hours along with a team in the control room of Mahatam Nagar so that the pregnant woman can be rushed to the civil hospital even at night if needed.

Dr. Kavita Singh, SMO Block Dabwala Kalan, said that Asha workers were instructed to keep in touch and as soon as labour pains started, government ambulance was immediately arranged. In this way, 20 deliveries have taken place, both mother and child are safe and as per the remaining list, Asha workers and ANMs are in constant contact.
