The RTI Activists Federation Fazilka has decided to intensify its awareness campaign and honour RTI activists, Principal Information Officers (PIO) of government departments and journalists.
Federation CEO Deepak Mudgil, Secretary Kanwal Sethi, members Jitender Pal Singh and Rajinder Bajaj on Thursday gave detailed information about the proposed district level RTI award ceremony.
Deepak Mudgil said that the RTI Act has proved to be very helpful for the people and the employees working in the offices. Some officials were scared of it and some information-seekers used it as a tool for blackmail. The truth is that if the law is understood in the right sense, then the officials need not be afraid of it and every person can be given the right information.(SUBHEAD)
Kanwal Sethi said that our aim is to honour the people who have worked for the betterment of the society by using the law properly. Its purpose is to encourage people fighting against illegal gratification.
He said that we will also try to inform the employees about the correct way of answering in the RTI Act. People seeking information through RTI and making disclosure using it can apply by filling google form by visiting our Facebook page or collecting the form from the members of the organization.
He said that a cash prize of Rs 11,000 and a medal of honour would be given in each category.
