VB CAUGHT PUDA JE, PRIVATE SECURITY GUARD FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF RS 10K

Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Thursday nabbed a Junior Engineer (JE), Gurwinder Singh, posted at Bathinda Development Authority of PUDA and a private security guard Gurmeet Singh for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Revealing details here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that Advocate Gurtej Singh Grewal resident of Model Town Phase-1, Bathing lodged a complaint that he wanted to purchase a house no LIG-2397 situated at Model Town Phase-1 Bathinda from Harchand Singh Subedar and an NOC was to be issued in his name, for which Harchand Singh had applied online on July 13, 2023.

(SUBHEAD)The complainant alleged that he went to office of the accused JE yesterday to request him for issuing the NOC and he demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 through his private security guard Gurmeet Singh.

After preliminary investigation of the complaint, it was found that the accused JE’s private security guard has already took Rs 5000 from the complainant and a team of VB today laid a trap and arrested the both the accused while accepting the remaining bribe amount of Rs 5000 from the complainant in the presence of official witnesses. The VB also recovered Rs 5000 from their possession.

In this regard, an FIR has been registered under Prevention of Corruption Act against both the accused at Police Station VB, Bathinda Range.
