Cyclists from Chandigarh celebrated their 77th Independence Day in a unique way. Nine cyclists started cycling from Chandigarh on August 14 and covered a distance of about 260 kms in one and a half days and ended their Jashn-e-Azadi ride at Wagah border.
(MOREPIC1)SUBHEAD) The cyclists dedicated their ride to the Border Security Force (BSF) who provides a sense of security to the countrymen by patrolling at the borders round the clock.
A total of nine riders participated under the leadership of Vikrant Sharma which included Sudeep Rawat, Ashwini Kumar, Nitender Dhillon, Arnav Malik, Rajesh Kler, Bhavik Sharma, Kairav Sharma and Tanmay Rawat. On this occasion, the cyclists participated in the cultural program organized in the evening and enjoyed the retreat with the BSF jawans.
It has been a tradition of these cyclists to dedicate such rides to the defence line on every Independence Day. Last year, almost the same set of cyclists completed his ride at 10,000 feet on the Atal Tunnel near Rohtang, built by the Border Road Organization (BRO). In 2021, these same cyclists celebrated Independence Day by completing a ride of nearly 250 kms with the Indian Army at Hussainiwala border near Ferozepur.
