In a major breakthrough, Chandigarh Police Crime Branch got a major success by busting drug smuggling nexus being operate from Jail and by following the thread of drug dealers/suppliers, the team of Crime Branch arrested 5 drug peddlers and recovered total 35.247 kg Poppy Husk.
As per direction of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/Crime & HQ, under supervision of DSP Crime Sh. Udaypal Singh, a team of Crime Branch lead by Inspector Ashok Kumar one local peddler namely Aditya was arrested and recovered 20.442 kg poppy husk.
A team of Crime Branch headed by SI Neeraj Kumar arrested accused Aditya s/o Sh. Parmod R/o # 2501, Sector 52, Chandigarh, Aged 19 years from near light point Sector 51-52, Chandigarh on 16.8.2023 and 20.442 Kg Poppy Husk was recovered from his possession. Subsequently case FIR No. 254 Dt. 16.8.2023 U/S 15 & 29 NDPS ACT, PS-36, UT Chandigarh was registered against him. InvestigationPolice remand of accused Aditya was obtained and during Police remand he disclosed that he is doing illegal business of drug (poppy husk) on the instruction of Chandan, lodged in Nabha Jail in case FIR No.231 dated 28.09.2022 u/s 15 NDPS Act PS-Gobindgarh Mandi, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, who passed the instruction to him through telephonically.
Further, Call detail of Aditya was analysed and bank statement was also scrutinized, from the bank statement it was established that he had made transaction with Ranjit Singh @ Kala, Rajwant Singh, Kaliyan, Chandan Kumar and one main drug supplier from Chittorgarh, Rajasthan (absconding) for sale and purchase of drug which is approximately Rs. 30 lacs for the last 4 months and most of the time they made cash payment for sale and purchased.
On 21.8.2023 acting upon the disclosure of accused Aditya, one Kaliyan Singh was arrested from Distt. Nawansahar and 5 KG 710 Grams Poppy Husk has been recov ered from his possession. Nawansahar.
Accused Ranjit Singh @ Kala was arrested from Ludhiana and 4 KG & 470 Grams Poppy Husk has been recovered from his possession. Profession: Ranjit is truck driver. Accused Rajwant Singh was arrested from Ludhiana and 4 KG & 625 Grams Poppy Husk has been recovered from his possession.Profession: Rajwant Singh running a canteen in Ludhian
On 23.8.2023 the mastermind Chandan Kumar brought on production warrant from Nabha jail and 5 days police remand was obtained. Chandan is operating the racket of drug from Nabha Jail, he started illegal business of drug in the year of 2020 and arrestedin 2021 (later on bailed out) and 2022 presently is in Nabha Jail for the last 11 months in case FIR No. 231 of fatehgarh Sahib. He
procured the telephone from one jail inmate who was released on bail and started operating drug racket from inside the jail. The mobile phone used by Chandan has also been recovered. The following cases have been registered against Chandan: 1. FIR No. 231 dated 28.9.2022 u/s 15,61,85 NDPS Act

Modus operandi: All the accused were connected with each other and with main drug dealer who is resident of Chittorgarh, and presently absconding. Aditya used to purchase drug from a drug dealer in Chittorgarh on the direction of Chandan. He used to transport the drug via, bus, train, taxi, motor cycle,
truck. After procuring the drug he used to make packing of small quantity and disburse them to different drug peddlers upon the instruction of Chandan. There are numbers of boys like Aditya who are working for Chandan. Accused was produced before the hon’ble court and their police emand obtained for further investigation.
