CBI ARRESTS A DIVISIONAL ENGINEER OF BSNL FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs. 20K

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Divisional Engineer (In-charge AGM) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Orai (Uttar Pradesh) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from the Complainant.

A case was registered on complaint against a Divisional Engineer (In-charge AGM), BSNL, Orai (Uttar Pradesh) on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from Complainant. It was further alleged that the accused demanded bribe from Complainant (a BSNL Vendor) for awarding work of installation & supply of OLT Machine; providing fiber connection to BDO Office, Dakor, Orai and also making timely payment.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of accused at Orai & Kanpur which led to recovery of incriminating documents including investments in properties.

The accused was produced before the Competent Court and remanded to 14 days Judicial custody.
