VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTS REVENUE PATWARI FOR TAKING RS 91K BRIBE

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Thursday, arrested a revenue Patwati Satinderpal Singh, posted at revenue halqa Purana Vahla in tehsil Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 91,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said revenue official, a resident of village Dharowali, has been arrested on the complaint of Iqbal Singh, a resident of village Panwa Jhangi, Gurdaspur district who have lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister's Anti Corruption Action Line in this regard.

(SUBHEAD)Giving details he added that the said complainant has alleged in his online complaint that the above said Patwari had taken Rs 61,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 in three instalments in lieu of mutation of his and his son's land. The complainant has recorded the conversation with the Patwari regarding payment of bribe money which was submitted to the VB as an evidence.

The spokesperson informed that the VB range Amritsar has investigated the complaint and arrested the accused revenue official after finding him guilty for taking a bribe of Rs 91,000 from the complainant.

In this regard a case under section Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused Patwari at VB police station Amritsar range. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
