HOME MINISTER ISSUES STRICT INSTRUCTIONS TO POLICE OFFICERS: EVERY COMPLAINT TO BE RESOLVED WITHIN THREE MONTHS

 Haryana, Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij today issued strict directives to police officers that every complaint should be resolved within a three-month timeframe. He emphasised the need to assess and renovate all dilapidated police stations and outposts across the state to modernise and enhance police efficiency.

Sh. Vij was presiding over a review meeting of police department officers here today.

Sh. Vij directed stringent monitoring at various entry points for vehicle checks and regular inspections at de-addiction centres to curb substance abuse.

In this regard, he was informed that 4473 persons have been arrested under the NDPS Act from whom heroin, hashish, ganja, opium, poppy straw, cocaine, etc. have been recovered. It was informed in the meeting that SOP has been made for mutual coordination between Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau and District Police. Apart from this, property of 81 drug smugglers worth Rs 44 crore 99 lakh 71 thousand 312 has been attached. Similarly, in the year 2023, 108 properties of 14 drug smugglers worth Rs 12 crore 41 lakh 30 thousand 950 have been seized.

To enforce traffic rules, regular monitoring is necessary

In the meeting, the Home Minister mentioned that approximately 6,000 people lose their lives in road accidents every year. We aim to reduce these accidents to save lives and property. Therefore, regular monitoring is essential to implement traffic rules effectively.

The Home Minister was informed during the meeting that in Karnal, a central control room will be set up to operate 100 CCTV cameras for traffic surveillance. Additionally, CCTV cameras have been installed along the highways. The implementation of online challan for traffic violations has commenced in twelve districts, with plans underway for other districts.

Challan to be imposed on lane violators

Sh. Anil Vij expressed concern over lane violations, and directed officers to strictly enforce lane driving rules and issue challan to violators. It was mentioned in the meeting that this year, a total of 1.70 lakh challan have already been issued for lane driving violations. Furthermore, the Home Minister suggested identifying black spots as part of road safety measures to prevent accidents.

Focus on improving soft and IT skills of police personnel

The minister emphasised improving the soft skills of police personnel to ensure better interactions with the public. Monthly police-public committee meetings at the district level have been scheduled at every last Wednesday of the month to address various local issues and to bridge the gap between government services and citizens. Furthermore, Sh. Vij mentioned providing enhanced IT-related training to active personnel at cyber police stations.(SUBHEAD)

Monthly review meetings for the police department Sh.Vij stated that a review meeting for the police department would be held every second Tuesday of the month, with the presence of heads of each police branch. Additionally, a meeting regarding de-addiction from narcotics will be organised in the first week of every month. Moreover, various other issues were deliberated upon during the meeting.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad, Director General of Police Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur, ADGP, Smt. Mamta Singh, ADGP, Sh. O.P. Singh, ADGP, Sh. A.S. Chawla, ADGP, Smt. Kala Ramachandran, IG, Sh. Sanjay Kumar and other officers remained present in the meeting.
