A lethal bowling attack led by Rajangad Bawa followed by a brilliant half-century from opener Arslan Khan brought a second consecutive win for UT boys as Chandigarh defeated J&K by eight wickets in a one-sided match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament played at Ahmedabad on Saturday. Chandigarh achieved the 139 run challenge posed by J&K's at the loss of two wickets.

Earlier, Manan Vohra led Chandigarh won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first. Sandeep Sharma gave the initial blows to opponents by dismissing Qamran Iqbal (0) and skipper Shubham Khajuria (1). Thereafter, Rajangad Bawa scalped Shivansh Sharma (4) followed by Vivarant Sharma (8) who fell short of his crease with 16/4 on the board.

The pair of Abdul Samad and Henan did his best with a 53 runs partnership before Ashwin Murugan got rid of Samad (40) who was caught by Manan Vohra. Later Nazir (23) also went back leaving the side at 69/5. Nasir Muzaffar (27) failed to convert his score into a big innings at the score read 117/7. Bawa (4/25) dismissed all the tail-enders – Auqib Nabi (9), Yudhvir Singh (2) and Vanshaj Sharma (0) to bowl out J&K for 138 runs in the 38th over. 

Arsalan Khan, who had scored a century in the last match did not disappoint during the chase and exploited opposition. But Manan Vohra (3) could not support him well. Later, Arslan Khan completed his half-century. Ankit Kaushik (13) was second one to go with the team score of 71 runs. With unbeaten Arsalan Khan (76) and Gaurav Puri (34), Chandigarh achieved the target in the 26th over. 

Chandigarh's next match is against Haryana on 27th November.
