TOTAL OF 3.4 KG OF PURE OPIUM WORTH RS. 1 CRORE IN THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET RECOVERED FROM THEIR POSSESSION, ACCUSED HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN DRUG TRAFFICKING FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS.

A team of Special Cell/SWR, led by Inspr. Manender Singh, Inspr. Sunil Kumar, and Inspr. Neeraj Kumar, under the supervision of ACsP Sh. Sanjay Dutt and Sh. Sunil Kumar, has arrested two key members of an interstate drug syndicate, namely Siyaram s/o Sh. Ramdas and (2) Dinesh s/o Sh. Munni Lal, both residents of Jaunpur, UP. They have been involved in supplying contraband drugs for the last five years.
There was information with SWR, Special Cell, that an interstate drug syndicate was being operated by one Siyaram. The input was further developed through secret informers and technical analysis, and it came out that Siyaram was procuring opium from Ranchi, Jharkhand, and Bihar and then supplying it to his associates in Delhi/NCR and many other states.
(SUBHEAD)On December 3, 2023, specific and credible information was received that the above Siyaram, along with one of his associates, would come to Delhi near Akshardham Metro Station to supply a huge consignment of drugs to his associates. Accordingly, a team led by Inspr. Manender Singh, consisting of ASI Pradeep, ASI Prem Parkash, ASI Rajesh Rana, HC Manish, HC Atul, HC Ravi, HC Mukesh, HC Amit Kumar, HC Sanjay, HC Rakesh Kumar, and HC Ravinder, was formed to apprehend the said drug peddlers.
Thereafter, a trap was laid near Akshardham Metro Station, and two people, namely Siyaram and Dinesh, were apprehended when they were boarding an autorickshaw after stepping down from a bus. Both of them were carrying sling bags. On checking their bags, 3407 grams of opium, worth Rs. 1 crore in the international market, were recovered from the cavities inside the bags. Accordingly, a case under the provisions of the NDPS Act was lodged at PS Special Cell, Delhi, and both the accused were arrested in the case.
PROFILE & INTERROGATION : Mr. Ingit Pratap Singh , IPS, DCP, Special Cell, said, both the accused, Siyaram and Dinesh, are residents of the same village in Jaunpur, UP. Siyaram studied up to 6th grade and was engaged in the business of Pan Masala. However, due to poverty and to earn quick money, he started trafficking drugs along with Dinesh. They would procure opium from one Birsa r/o Jharkhand and supply the same to their contacts in Delhi/NCR and Haryana. It was also revealed that they had supplied more than 100 kg of opium in the last one year. Further raids are being conducted in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and Delhi/NCR to nab the remaining members of this syndicate.
