ADVISER TO THE ADMINISTRATOR MEETS THE WINNERS OF 8TH BOCCIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, 2023-24.

Rajeev Verma, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh, met with the triumphant players of Chandigarh Spinal Rehab who showcased exceptional talent and grit at the 8th Boccia National Championship, 2023-24. Mr. Ajeya Raj and Ms. Anjali Thakur, both remarkable individuals with disabilities, brought pride to Chandigarh by securing medals in this prestigious event.

(MOREPIC1)  In an inspiring display of resilience, Ajeya Raj, a C4 Quadriplegic, clinched a Silver Medal in the individual category and a Gold Medal in the Pairs, demonstrating unparalleled courage and determination. Despite facing significant challenges, Ajeya Raj's triumph serves as a beacon of hope, proving that disabilities are never impediments to success.

Similarly, Anjali Thakur, overcoming the hurdles posed by her disability as a C5-C6 individual, displayed unwavering dedication and passion for Boccia, securing Gold Medals in both the individual and pairs categories. Her journey exemplifies the power of perseverance and serves as an inspiration to millions facing similar obstacles.

Their remarkable achievements underscore the indomitable human spirit, emphasizing that with determination and perseverance, any obstacle can be overcome.

Recognizing the need for inclusive sports facilities, the Sports Department is underway in developing a Boccia Court at the Sports Complex, Sector 8, Chandigarh, fulfilling the request of the Chandigarh Spinal Rehab players. Sh. Rajeev Verma, Adviser to the Administrator, extends his heartfelt congratulations to the winners and assures Chandigarh Administration's unwavering support to specially-abled sports persons.

Moreover, it was announced that Ms. Anjali Thakur will be competing in the Para Olympics – 2024, and the department pledges its full support towards her endeavors.

Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary, Sh. Hari Kallikkat, Secretary Sports, and Sh. Sorabh Kumar Arora,Director Sports, also joined in congratulating the winners and expressing solidarity with the specially-abled athletes.
