SPORTS TEACH STUDENTS ETHICS, VALUES, DISCIPLINE, AND A SENSE OF MUTUAL TRUST : B. S. OJHA

The closing ceremony of the 41st Annual Athletics Meet of Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, was held here today. Dr. Abha Sudarshan, Principal of the college welcomed the Chief Guest, Sh. C. B. Ojha, Chief Engineer, Chandigarh Administration, U.T Chandigarh.

Dr. Sudarshan highlighted the importance of sports. The event began with a striking, and a well synchronized March Past by the contingents of NCC, NSS and students of M.Com, B.Com., BBA, B.C.A and B.A. The lighting of the torch and the Oath Taking Ceremony followed.

Sports Meet witnessed active participation from the students in various sports activities like the 10000 Meter, 5000 Meter, 1500 Meter Race, 400 Meter Race, Relay Race, Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, etc. Dr. Rajinder Singh Kaura, Head, Department of Physical Education, read the annual report of the department.

Mr. Ojha, in his address said, “Sports teach students ethics, values, discipline, and a sense of mutual trust. He further said that the benefits of Sports aren’t limited to physical benefits; rather, it contributes to one’s social and personality development. The value of games and sports help in unlocking the potential of the youth and teach them how to overcome any obstacles and challenges through extraordinary determination, he added. The Chief Guest gave away medals and trophies to the prize winners.

ANISHA of BA I was declared the Best Athlete among the girls and PARBHAKAR of BA I was declared the Best Athlete from among the boys. Eminent among those present were Dr. Rajesh Kumar (Dean), Dr. Baljit Singh, (Vice Principal), Dr. Rajinder Kaura, Head, Department of Physical Education, Dr. Vishaw Gaurav and Ms. Sunita.
