5TH EDITION OF THE MARSHAL OF THE AIR FORCE ARJAN SINGH MEMORIAL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT -2024 OPENS

The 5th edition of the Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament-2024 is scheduled to be held from 25 to 30 April, 2024 at No. 3 Base Repair Depot (BRD), Chandigarh. The Opening Ceremony of the Tournament was held today at Raghbir Singh Bhola Hockey Stadium, 3 BRD Air Force Station, Chandigarh. Air Marshal RK Anand, Air Officer -in-Charge Administration, who was the Chief Guest of the tournament, declared the tournament Open.

The Chief Guest also felicitated Veteran Hockey players during the ceremony. Prominent veteran Hockey players, DSP Dharamveer Singh (Olympian) and ex-Air Force Hockey players, Group Captain JS Minhas (Retd) and Ex-Sergeant Prem Kumar were felicitated during the Opening Ceremony. The spectators also witnessed an exhilaring air display of tenacity, precision, coordination and team work displayed by Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT).

(SUBHEAD)On the opening day, a total four number of matches were scheduled. In the first half of the day, matches were played between Sri Lanka Air Force and Indian Air Force followed by the second match between Chandigarh XI and Punjab Police.

First Match was won by Indian Air Force by 4-0 against Sri Lanka Air Force. JWO Lovdeep Singh of Indian Air Force scored four goals. He was declared as Man of the Match. Second Match was won by Chandigarh XI against Punjab Police by 5-3.
