CHANDIGARH POLICE NABS ACCUSED OF SNATCHING

On the directions of Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP/UT under the supervision of Sh. Gurmukh Singh, DSP/Central and Inspector Sarita Roy, SHO/PS-17, team of Police Station-Sector-17, Chandigarh achieved a significant success by arresting an accused, Vishal @ Kancha, son of Sh. Naresh Bahadur, resident of H. No. 2361/3, Small Flats, Maloya, Chandigarh, aged 20 years, during the intervening night of 8th and 9th July 2024.

The arrest took place near the Circus ground road in Sector 17, Chandigarh, based on secret information received to the officials of PS-Sector 17, Chandigarh, who have been consistently searching for the accused.

On the intervening night of 4th and 5th July 2024, the accused was involved in two separate incidents of snatching across different sectors. In the jurisdiction of PS-Sector 17, he snatched Rs.1,000/- in cash, a Bluetooth device, and an Aadhar card from a pedestrian near the MC light point in Sector 17, Chandigarh, regarding which a case FIR No. 125 dated 05.07.2024 under sections 304, 304.2, and 3.5 BNS, added 317.2 BNS. In a separate incident in the area of PS-Sector 19, he snatched a mobile phone near the light point between Sector 17 and 18 and injured the victim with a sharp weapon.

With the seamless efforts of the team of PS-Sector 17, the snatched property, including the Bluetooth device, Aadhar card, and mobile phones of the victims, was recovered from the accused. On 10th July 2024, he was prodced before the Hon'ble Court and sent to judicial custody at Model Jail, Burail, Chandigarh. The continuous efforts of the team exemplify their commitment to maintaining law and order, and searches for two additional accomplices are ongoing.
