PUNJAB WON WHILE HARYANA LOST IN THEIR OPENING ENCOUNTERS

The fifth Women's T10 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf being organized by the BCCI affiliated Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) started at DAV Public School, Sector 8 on Tuesday This four-day event is being organized in association with the UT Cricket Association and Serum Institute of India (SII) with sole objective to promote cricket among the deaf and dumb.

Jaswinder Narang, CEO of SII's Villoo Poonawalla Foundation, inaugurated the championship in the presence of IDCA’s President Sumit Jain and cricket lovers of the city. Teams from Delhi, Haryana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, UP, Punjab, Telangana, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh are participating in the championship. The final will be played on August 9. 

(SUBHEAD)In the first match, Andhra Pradesh defeated Karnataka by 33 runs. Batting first, Andhra Pradesh scored 67/0 as skipper Jyotsna scored 29 while Kanthamma added 18 runs. In reply, Karnataka was restricted to 34/5. In the second match, Maharashtra defeated Telangana by 38 runs. Batting first, Maharashtra scored 62/0 wherein skipper Nida Jabi (29) made a significant contribution.

In reply, Telangana could manage 24/1. In the third match of the day, Delhi beat UP by 33 runs. UP invited Delhi to bat as the team scored 55/4. Priyanshi Dixit took three wickets. In reply, UP was restricted to 22/5.

In another match of the day, Punjab defeated Kerala by ten runs. Batting first, Punjab put 51/0 on the board with the help of Nisha (25). In reply, Kerala could only score 41/2. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh registered an eight-wicket win over Haryana in a one-sided match. Andhra won the toss and invited the opposition to bat on which Haryana scored 44/2. In reply, Andhra surpassed the target at the loss of two wickets.
