VETERAN SOCIAL ACTIVIST, PHILANTHROPIST RINWA REMEMBERED

Tributes were paid to Hazari Lal Rinwa, a veteran social reformer and philanthropist who headed the management of Sahitya Sadan, established in 1924 by freedom fighter and former MP Swami Keshwanand for many decades.

After the Havan Yagya at SKN Sr Sec School, those who offered flowers on the portrait of Rinwa included Mayor Vimal Thatai, Improvement Trust former chairman Anil Nagpal, Sahitya Sadan president Suryakant Rinwa and Manager Dr Sandeep Watts, Panchayat Samiti former chairman Ravi Kant Rinwa, Gaushala president Fakir Chand Goyal, Dushyant Rinwa, Rotarian Rajeev Godara, Sajjan Kumar, Dharamveer Batra, Rajkumar, educationist Saroj Nagpal besides teachers and students.

(SUBHEAD)Lekhak Parishad president Raj Sadosh said that Swami Keshwanand selected Hazari Lal Rinwa and freedom fighter Chandi Ram Verma to run Sahitya Sadan. Not only in Abohar but in other parts of Punjab and Rajasthan, a campaign to end literacy and social evils was carried out which was also supported by then Lok Sabha Speaker Bal Ram Jakhar.

Mayor Vimal Thatai said that Sahitya Sadan has completed 100 years of its establishment and dimensions of public service have been established through a library with about 26 thousand books as well as an Ayurvedic hospital besides senior secondary school.
