PROVISIONAL LICENSES FOR SALE OF FIREWORKS FINALISED

A committee under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Subhash Chander today drew lots to issue 67 provisional licenses for sale of firecrackers in Fazilka district. A total of 2606 applications were received from across the district. The draw was conducted in the presence of Superintendent Pradeep Gakhar along with other officers and applicants. The entire proceedings were video graphed.

(SUBHEAD)484 applications for 18 licenses in Fazilka, 1621 for 25 licenses in Abohar, 243 for 18 licenses in Jalalabad and 258 for 6 licenses in Arniwala were received. Four places have been earmarked in the district for the sale of firecrackers. The timing for selling crackers for license holders will be from 10 am to 7.30 pm.

On 31 October (Diwali) firecrackers can be used from 8 pm to 10 pm and on Gurpurab day from 4 am to 5 am. None will be allowed to set off firecrackers before or after this date and time.

For Fazilka sports stadium in M.R. College (except playground area), for Abohar PUDA Colony, for Jalalabad sports stadium Jalalabad (except playground area) and for Arniwala Sheikh Subhan Panchayat land adjacent to police station has been earmarked for sale of firecrackers.
