An encounter took place between the police and two highway robbers on a motorcycle in Lahli area of Lalru police station area of Mohali district on Sunday morning. During the encounter, the accused fired three rounds at the police vehicle that was chasing them. During this, one robber Satinder Singh Satti, resident of Dandla (Derabassi) was injured in the firing by the police while his other partner fled.
The injured person has been admitted to the government hospital at Derabassi. The police have recovered a motorcycle and a pistol from the spot. After the incident, a large number of police personnel have been deployed at the spot and the absconding person is being searched.
SP (Rural) Manpreet Singh and DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar said that on November 3 and November 11, incidents of looting goods from people at gunpoint had occurred on the Chandigarh Ambala highway. In this regard, 2 FIRs were lodged and efforts were being made to trace the accused.
(SUBHEAD) During the investigation, it was found that Satinder Singh Satti was carrying out these incidents. Secret information was received about him that he was going somewhere in Lahli area on a motorcycle with his companion. After which the police party led by DSP Sub Division Derabassi Bikramjit Singh Brar chased the accused who fired three rounds on the police vehicle near a drain on the way away from the highway in Lahli area, which hit the police vehicle.
In retaliation, the police also fired, during which Satinder Satti got shot in the leg while his companion took advantage of the bushes and fled, who is being searched.
Injured Satinder Satti has been admitted to the government hospital in Derabassi. A motorcycle and a country-made pistol have been recovered from the spot. Further investigation is being done.
