TO COMPLIANCE EXCISE LAWS TO CURBING ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES , CONDUCTS INSPECTIONS OF BOTTLING PLANTS AND BARS

Under the guidance of the Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Shri Hari Kallikkat, Excise & Taxation Department of UT Chandigarh has undertaken a series of proactive inspections and enforcement activities to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Excise laws. These efforts are aimed at curbing illegal activities and fostering a lawful and transparent framework for the distribution and sale of liquor within Chandigarh.

As part of this initiative, the Excise officers conducted thorough inspections of 6 bottling plants and 5 restaurants/bars to verify adherence to licensing norms and other legal provisions under the Excise laws.

The objective of these inspections was to identify and address any irregularities, ensuring that licensees operate within the prescribed legal framework. Further, checking of the bottling plant as well as the vends will remains continue on the regular basis and action will be taken on violators who violates the provisions of Excise Law.

Also, the Department is committed towards the strict compliance of the track-and-trace system by all the excise licensees and action will be taken against the violators of this provision. This system enables real-time monitoring of liquor production and distribution, helping to detect and prevent any illegal activities. By enforcing this measure and other provisions of Excise Laws, the Department has reiterated its unwavering commitment to upholding transparency and legality in liquor distribution and sales. The department emphasizes that public health and welfare remain paramount, and any activities jeopardizing these principles will not be tolerated.

The department is determined to act against lawbreakers and prevent illegal activities in the excise trade. It plans to stay vigilant, enforce rules strictly, and ensure a fair and lawful system to protect the interests of Chandigarh's citizens.
