VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTS PATIALA MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTOR, HIS ASSOCIATE TAKING RS. 14 K BRIBE

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, on Thursday arrested Gurmeet Singh, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Patiala and his associate Anil, a private person from Patiala red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 14,000. 

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the VB said the above said accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Patiala city, and working as a private document writer in District Administrative Complex, Patiala. 

(SUBHEAD)He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that above said accused MVI has been demanding a bribe non through his private agent Anil for passing the fitness of vehicles and clear his driving licence test. 

The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary enquiry into this complaint the VB team laid a trap during which both the accused Gurmeet Singh, MVI and his private agent Anil were arrested while they were accepting a of Rs. 14,000 from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses and bribe money was also recovered. In this regard a case has been registered against both the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station Patiala range and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
