The 1971 Indo-Pak war 1971 is a chapter in Indian military history, which led to a decisive victory for India and paved the way for the creation of Bangladesh.
In this war, the soldiers of the Indian Army showed amazing courage. The soldiers of 14 Grenadier Regiment deployed in the border areas of Rajasthan set a new example of bravery. As many as 62 soldiers of the Kayamkhani community included in this regiment sacrificed their lives to protect their motherland.
(SUBHEAD)On the night of 14 and 15 December 1971, in the battlefield of Longewala, the Indian Army had limited resources and light weapons. At the same time, Pakistan's army equipped with heavy tanks and modern weapons attacked. Despite this, the Indian soldiers, especially the Kayamkhani soldiers, fought till their last breath, foiling every attempt of the enemy. Their sacrifice not only foiled the enemy's plan but also gave time to the Indian Air Force to retaliate.
The Kayamkhani community, which is famous for its military tradition and patriotism, further strengthened its identity in this war also. Their bravery and sacrifice proved that they could go to any extent to protect the motherland. Their bravery in the battle of Longewala ensured that the enemy didn't infiltrate India. This sacrifice is a matter of pride not only for their families and community, but for the whole of India.
Even today, tributes are paid to their memory and the sacrifice remains a source of inspiration. The war of 1971 is not only a symbol of India's victory, but is also the immortal story of those brave soldiers of the Kayamkhani community, who sacrificed their lives for the security and honour of India.
