ADMINISTRATOR APPROVES ADJUSTMENT OF 22 PWBD EMPLOYEES OF ELECTRICITY DEPTT IN DIFFERENT WINGS OF ENGINEERING DEPTT

Consequent upon the decision of the Chandigarh Administration to privatize the Electricity Department, UT, Chandigarh and in view of the dismissal of UT Powermen Union’s Civil Writ Petition by the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court vide judgement dated 06.11.2024 and further dismissal of SLP filed by the said UT Powermen Union by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide judgement dated 02.12.2024, the decision to finalize the Draft Policy of Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) under Section 20 (5) of PwBD Act,2016 required final approval from the Administrator UT Chandigarh being competent authority in this matter.

Hon’ble Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, approved the Policy of PwBD of Engineering Department and subsequently approved the adjustment of 22 PwBD employees working in the Electricity Wing, UT, Chandigarh in different wings of the Engineering Department of Chandigarh Administration against an identical posts.

As per the aforesaid newly approved PwBD policy of Electricity Wing of the Engineering Department a total of 22 PwBD employees working in the said wing having disability of more than 40% to 100% holding permanent posts in Group 'A', 'B', 'C' & 'D' and falling within the ambit of 'Right to Persons with Disabilities' Act, 2016, would be adjusted to other wings of the Engineering Department on an identical posts subject to fulfilment of the terms and conditions of the policy provisions.

All the 22 PwBD employees working in the Electricity Wing have appreciated the efforts of the Chandigarh Administration and specifically thanked the Hon’ble Administrator, UT, Chandigarh for safeguarding their working conditions and promptly redressing their genuine issue by approval of the PwBD Policy for them as per Act provisions.
