The State Election Commission has issued the schedule for preparation of electoral rolls for general election to Municipal Councils of Tarn Taran (District Tarn Taran), Dera Baba Nanak (District Gurdaspur) and Talwara (District Hoshiarpur) on dated 20.01.2024.
Disclosing this here today, State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri said that schedule for preparation of draft electoral roll would be done from 20.01.2025 to 24.01.2025 by the concerned ERO (with qualifying date of 1.1.2025) and draft electoral rolls would be published on 25.01.2025. Filing of claims and objections, if any would be done from 27.01.2025 to 3.02.2025. Besides this, Disposal of claims and objections would be done by 11.02.2025 and final electoral rolls would be published on 14.02.2025.
He further informed that Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers of Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur have been directed to publicize the draft electoral rolls on 25.01.2025. All eligible persons having an age of 18 years or above can apply for inclusion of their names in voter lists and can also file claims and objections as per schedule given above. The final publication of electoral rolls will be done by ERO (SDM) on 14.02.2025.
He revealed that the State Election Commission requests all the desirous and eligible persons falling under the jurisdiction of the said Municipalities to get themselves registered in the voter lists of the Municipality concerned, during the period of claims and objections, so that they may exercise their franchise in the general elections of the said 3 Municipalities.
