Acting on information relating to illegal poaching and trade of Wildlife, a special team from Wildlife Crime Unit of CBI alongwith WCCB officials on 03.02.2025 at early morning hours intercepted a vehicle and recovered the wildlife articles i.e. i) Leopard Skin -02, ii) Leopard Canine -09, iii) Leopard Claws -25, iv) Leopard Jaw pieces -03, v) Otter Skin -03, vi) Pangolin Scale from the possession of three accused persons from Pinjore, Haryana.
Three accused namely Sh. Peerdas, Sh. Wazira and Sh. Ram Dayal were arrested on the spot and another accused gang member namely Rohtas was subsequently apprehended from Kalka Railway Station. A criminal case various sections including 61(2) BNS 2023 r/w 40,49, 49B, 51 of Wildlife Protection Act,1972 has been registered.
One of the Accused has been previously chargesheeted by the Nepal Police in relation to wildlife crime.
The wildlife articles seized from the possession of accused persons are under Schedule-I of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, which protects endangered species from hunting & poaching, etc. and provides strict punishment & penalties for offenders.
All arrested accused will be produced before the Competent Court.
Further, investigation about the source of wildlife articles, establishing backward and forward linkage and money trail etc. is under progress.
