Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria today visited several important places in the city, including Fruit and Vegetable and Grain Market in Sector 26, Sports Complex Sector 42, Grain Market Sector 39 and Sarangpur near IRB.
During the tour, the Administrator gave strict instructions to the officers and asked them to be active at the ground level. Along with this, he warned the officers that negligence in any work related to public interest will not be tolerated at all. Apart from this, he issued instructions to work with full dedication and honesty towards various development works going on in the city, cleanliness campaign and proposed development works.
Administrator laid special emphasis on implementing prompt and effective measures to improve the functionality of the Fruit & Vegetable and Grain Mandi Sector 26 and to make the user experience more seamless.He directed the concerned officers to clear the obstructed routes within the Mandi to facilitate smooth movement for vendors and customers. Additionally, he emphasized the need to establish regular cleaning schedules to maintain hygiene standards, to ensure that the general public does not face any inconvenience.
On this occasion, the Administrator also said that he would continue to make such visits from time to time in future and if any negligence or deficiencies are found in the work, action will be taken against the concerned officer.

At the sports complex in Sector 42, where the Administration plans to set up a multipurpose indoor hall, the Administrator reviewed the proposed site. He directed that a consultant with international experience, preferably someone associated with international events/Olympics, should be appointed to oversee the project. The proposed multipurpose hall aims to cater to various sports disciplines including volleyball, badminton, basketball, table tennis, gymnastics and wrestling, thereby enhancing Chandigarh's sports facilities to international standards. He also suggested organising national level games regularly at the venue to promote sports culture in the city.
During his visit to the new grain, fruit and vegetable market at Sector 39, Mr Kataria directed the officers to expedite the process of auction of Shop-cum-Offices (SCOs). He directed them to complete the process on time so that vendors and consumers can avail better facilities.
At Sarangpur, he assessed the progress of various projects and reiterated the need to adhere to the project timelines, thereby underlining the Administration's commitment towards infrastructural development.
The Administrator directed the officers to monitor the development works and conduct frequent physical inspections of the sites so that all the initiatives of the Administration are implemented efficiently and the general public does not face any inconvenience. He stressed the importance of regular monitoring to maintain the momentum of development projects and promptly address any emerging issues.
