GENERAL ELECTIONS TO THE MUNICIPAL COUNCILS OF TARN TARAN, DERA BABA NANAK AND TALWARA TO BE HELD ON 2 MARCH: CHADHURI

The State Election Commission Punjab informed that the General Elections to the Municipal Councils of Tarn Taran (District Tarn Taran), Dera Baba Nanak (District Gurdaspur) and Talwara (District Hoshiarpur) will be held on 02.03.2025. The voting will take place from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the polling day. Counting of votes will take place at the polling stations immediately after the poll. Separate instructions for counting will be issued by the Commission. 

State Election Commissioner, Punjab Raj Kamal Chaudhuri further informed that the formal Notification of the Commission regarding schedule of elections will be issued on 17.02.2025. The period for filing nominations will be 17.02.2025 to 20.02.2025 (both days inclusive). The Model Code of Conduct will come into force from the date of Notification in the respective Revenue jurisdictions of these three Municipal Councils. 

In this regard, the Commission has directed the District Election Officers of Districts Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur to make all necessary arrangements for free and fair elections.
