A meeting of the governing body of the Jan Arogya Kalyan Samiti was held at the General Multi-Speciality Hospital in Sector-16, Chandigarh. The meeting was chaired by the Member of Parliament from Chandigarh Mr. Manish Tewari. It was attended by the Mayor of Chandigarh Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Babla, the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh Mr. Nishant Yadav, the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Mr. Amit Kumar, the Director of the hospital Dr Suman Singh and other doctors and officials.

It was stressed by Mr Tewari that every effort must be made to ensure that patients are given absolutely the best treatment on the priority basis. Mr. Tewari also lauded the contribution of those doctors, who work in government hospitals, and said that they are doing a great public service by serving the people in government institutions, rather than in the private sector.

(SUBHEAD)It was felt that there should be an over all holistic review of the facilities that were available in in the government multi-speciality hospital sector 16 and then a four year plan should be drawn up in order to see as to how those facility can be augmented to best serve the people.

Since the capital expenditure incurred by the general multi-speciality hospital is on the lower side, Mr. Tewari stressed that the funds which are available with the Jan Arogya Kalyan Samiti, those funds should be used more on the capital side, rather than the revenue side.

Mr. Tewari advised the officials of the sector-16 hospital that a comprehensive holistic plan should be prepared in order to ensure that there is a proper collaborated approach towards how the funds available with the Jan Arogya Kalyan Samiti, which is the registered society, are to be spent.
