DELHI ROBBERY OF RS 80 LAC WORKED OUT WITH IN 24 HOURS , 2 NABBED WITH ROBBED MONEY

CCTV OF NEARLY 500 CAMERAS OF CHANDNI CHOCK, RED FORT, JAMA MASJID, DARYAGANJ & LAHORI GATE WERE ANALYZED WHEREIN ACCUSED WERE FOUND CONTINUOUSLY CHANGING DIRECTIONS AFTER THE COMMISSION OF OFFENCE. • MAIN CONSPIRATOR & INFORMER MOHD. ALI WAS CAPTURED IN CCTV FOOTAGE AND HIS PHOTOS WERE ANALYZED IN ISRAELI FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM WHICH MATCHED WITH A PREVIOUSLY ARRESTED CRIMINAL WHO WAS RESIDENCE OF DARYAGANJ WHERE TEAMS WERE ALREADY WORKING WHILE TRACING SCOCTY USED IN OFFENCE. • ACCUSED MOHD. ALI WAS PREVIOUSLY ARRESTED IN A SIMILAR THEFT CASE OF CASH. MOHD. ALI USED TO WORK IN KUCHA MAHAJANI, HAD KNOWLEDGE OF THE MONEY MOVEMENT IN AND OUT OF THE KUCHAS.  BOTH ACCUSED CARRIED OUT DETAIL RACE OF THE KUCHAS GHASI RAM AND NEARBY KUCHAS FOR CARRYING OUT ROBBERY.

On 17th March 2025, Ajmal Bhai Ganesh, a 49-year-old resident of Patan, Gujarat, and an employee of R.K. Enterprises in Delhi, received a payment of ₹80 lakh at Kucha Ghasi Ram around 7 PM. After placing the money in his black IDEAL bag, he proceeded towards his residence at Haider Kuli Fatehpuri, Delhi.

At approximately 7:40 PM, near his house, a man aged 30-32 years, stopped him at gunpoint and tried to snatch his bag carrying money. When Ajmal resisted, the assailant fired a shot toward the ground, forcibly took the bag, and fled. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 227/25 dated 18/03/2025 U/s 309(4)/311 BNS & 27 Arms Act was registered at PS Lahori Gate and the investigation was taken up.

Sensing the gravity of the offence, separate Team of North District were created under supervision of Shri Shankar Banerjee, ACP Kotwali.

One Team under leadership of Shri Yogeshwar Singh (SHO Lahori Gate) comprising Insp. Vikas Yadav, SI Harender, SI Harish, SI Sudhir, SI Kavish, ASI Kavinder, ASI shiv, HC Amit, HC Ravi, HC Nitesh, HC Jaychand, HC Harimohan, HC Dhermendra, HC Rohtash, Ct Monu& Ct Rahul.

One Team led by Inspr. Rohit Saraswat (In-charge Special Staff) comprising SI Yogesh, SI Yogesh, HC Rakesh, HC Davender, HC Akash, HC Pradeep, HC Rahees, HC Ram Babu, HC Sandeep, HC Amit, HC Anuj, Ct Kuldeep, Ct Ravi Ct Dheeraj and Ct Shanu

One Team led by Insp Jatan Singh (SHO Kotwali) comprising HC Narender, HC Ankur, Ct Puran, Ct Amit & Ct Vipul.

All teams were briefed on the spot immediately after receiving information about the offense, and they were directed to analyze CCTV footage of the incident and nearby areas. From the analysis of the CCTV footage, it was found that a man, approximately 5'10" tall, wearing a blue shirt and a blue cap, stopped the complainant at gunpoint. When the victim resisted, the assailant fired a shot, forcibly took the bag, and fled towards Main Chandni Chowk Road.

The suspect was also seen following the victim from outside Kucha Ghasi Ram and was acting on the instructions of another person who was spotted outside Kucha Ghasi Ram & Haider Kuli. One team started following the assailant, who fled towards Fatehpuri Masjid, while another team pursued the other person, who escaped towards Lal Qila on a scooty. Two separate teams were assigned to analyze CCTV footage of both suspects' entry routes, while another team was directed to examine additional footage from Kucha Ghasi Ram to obtain clear images of the suspects.

The night-long exercise proved fruitful as one accused was seen coming from the Jama Masjid Dariba side and was later spotted fleeing along the same route on a scooty. Meanwhile, the other accused was seen boarding an auto near Fatehpuri Masjid, which then turned towards Lahori Gate. From the CCTV footage, auto’s registration number was identified, and the auto driver was interrogated. He stated that one person boarded his auto at around 7:50 PM but deboarded after traveling just 10-20 meters and fled.

Further CCTV analysis revealed that the accused also escaped towards Main Chandni Chowk Road. On the other hand, the scooty-riding accused was last located near Katra Chelan in Daryaganj. One suspect was captured in CCTV footage, and his face was analysed using the Israeli Facial Recognition System. The system matched his face with the dossier of a previously arrested individual, namely Mohd. Ali, a resident of Katra Chelan, Daryaganj. He had been previously arrested in a similar case registered at Kotwali Police Station.

Mr. Raja Banthia , IPS, DCP, North, said, during interrogation, both accused revealed that, Mohd. Ali entered Kucha Ghasi Ram and identified a person who entered empty-handed and later exited with a bag. Mohd. Ali then followed the victim to Main Chandni Chowk Road and marked him as the target for Samir, who subsequently followed the victim into Haider Kuli and executed the robbery as planned. After committing the offense, both accused met in Daryaganj and decided to share the stolen money at a later time, as news of the incident and CCTV footage had been reported by the media.

The location of the CCTV trail matched the dossier, and a trap was laid in Daryaganj, where one suspect, Mohd. Ali, was apprehended. During his interrogation, he identified his co-accused as Samir, a resident of Daryaganj. Subsequently, Samir was also apprehended and interrogated. Based on the interrogation of both accused, Samir and Mohd. Ali, an amount of ₹79,50,000 from the robbed money was recovered from Samir's residence, along with the weapon used in the commission of the offense. Further investigation of the case is in progress.

INTERROGATION: During interrogation, accused Mohd. Ali was found to be involved in Case FIR No. 915/2023 U/s 379/411/34 IPC PS Kotwali, which is also a case of cash theft of a similar nature. Mohd. Ali, who works in Kucha Mahajani, had knowledge of the movement of money in and out of the Kuchas. He was contacted by accused Samir, and both of them surveyed Kucha Ghasi Ram and the nearby Kuchas and Galis two days prior to the incident to plan the robbery.

DETAIL OF ACCUSED PERSON:    Samir S/o Mohd. Abid R/o Daryaganj Delhi, aged 19 years.,  Mohd. Ali S/o Abdul Wahid R/o Daryaganj Delhi, aged 21 years.

RECOVERY:  Rs 79,50,000 of the Robbed Money. , One Semi-Automatic Pistol with 3 live rounds.
